Mandy is an Innovation Fellow linked to the Sustainable Care Programme.  Her research specifically focuses on ‘enhancing organisational effectiveness by modernising support for working carers’.

Aligned to the Industrial Strategy, and working collaboratively with Employers for Carers (and liaising with other industrial partners), Mandy’s research will examine what can be learned, and more widely applied, to modernise business organisation and human resource management so UK companies can get best value from their ageing and increasingly caring workforces. Insight and evidence from her work will support newer businesses to grow and assist established ones to adapt their working practices, retain talent, optimise use of employees’ skills / experience, increase productivity, and cut wasteful business costs.

Mandy was previously employed as a Research Assistant at Edinburgh Napier University (Mental Health and Capacity Law, Business School) working on a Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland funded project, ‘employer responses to dementia in the workplace in Scotland’.

She undertook her BSc (Hons) degree and MSc at Sheffield Hallam University, and studied at the University of Dundee for her PhD in Human Geography ‘urban trees, woodlands and forests as places of mental well-being for people with early-stage dementia’.
