Matt’s appointment at the University of Sheffield is an exciting development for CIRCLE. He brings multiple talents, additional expertise and shares our passion for research that makes difference. Matt will play a central role in CIRCLE’s development in coming years, as we build on the achievements of the Sustainable Care programme.
We are pleased to welcome Matt Bennett as CIRCLE Professorial Research Fellow, from April 2021. Matt joins us from the University of Birmingham, and has been a Co-Investigator in the Sustainable Care team since 2017, leading our work on Modelling Care System Costs and Contributions: Data for a Sustainable Care and Wellbeing Strategy, in collaboration with Professor Janet Fast.
Matt’s DPhil in Sociology is from Nuffield College, University of Oxford. He has advanced expertise in quantitative methods and research interests in inequalities and the wellbeing outcomes of care and prosocial behaviour. Matt is Co-Director of the Social Impact Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (USA) and in 2018-21 led work funded by the ESRC Secondary Data Analysis Initiative on ‘Exploring the relationship between ethnic heterogeneity, intergroup relations and stress’. His work has recently been published in the Journal of Social Policy, Group Processes & Intergroup Relations, Health & Place and in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences [USA].
