The Sustainable Care programme held its first Annual Programme Conference in September 2018, bringing together the whole team for the very first time!

On Monday 24th September, we held a Researcher Training Day, in which our Director of Impact Madeleine Starr presented on Impact: from evidence to change, introducing everyone to what Carers UK have achieved so far and focusing on a specific case study surrounding its Caring & Family Finances Inquiry in 2014. During the session, all the SC researchers had a chance to discuss issues they are seeking to have an impact upon, and to develop their ideas about how to achieve it.
On Tuesday 25th September, we welcomed the whole UK team to Sheffield for our Sustainable Care team day. Principal Investigator Professor Sue Yeandle reviewed the programme and our work so far, and Professor Allister McGregor summarised our current thinking on Theorising Wellbeing for Sustainable Care, drawing on a number of workshops for team members earlier in the year. Later in the day, we discussed our impact and publication plans, and then visited INOX Dine for a delicious conference dinner.

On 26th September, we were pleased to welcome some of our European international partners and external guests to our first Research and Policy Day. Our UK and international researchers, and policy and practice partners discussed the challenges we face in Making Care Arrangements Sustainable, and the opportunities we have to influence the Re-Imagining of Care. We finished with an update on UK care policy developments from Chloe Wright, of partner Carers UK, and Professor Catherine Needham who leads our work on comparing the four UK nations.
